Call of Duty gamers of past and present have converged on the internet today in remembrance of one of the shooter series’ most iconic characters.
On October 11th, 2016, Task Force 141 squad member John “Soap” MacTavish perished while hunting down terrorist cell leader Vladimir Makarov, having made it through two previous titles from the series.
While in the capital city of Prague in the Czech Republic and during the mission “Blood Brothers, Soap was on overwatch for Captain John Price as he infiltrated a building to assassinate Makarov. As we know, the villain was tipped off and it resulted in the death of the Scotish solider.
We know, it’s hard to watch.
Soap was a playable character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, before taking a more laid-back character role in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Even developer Infinity Ward paid their respects:
It seems fitting the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is next month, giving you the chance to play as one of the series most iconic characters once again.
The remaster is bundled in with the release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the latest installment of the series out November 4th.
