Following rumors this week that Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal were attached to a film adaptation of popular cover shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division, developer Ubisoft has broken their silence and officially announced the project.
They made the announcement on the official Ubisoft blog, with Chastain and Gyllenhaal set to star. Furthermore, both actors will play a role in the film’s development, albeit through their production companies Freckle Films and Nine Stories.
A snippet from the blog post read:
The pandemic-stricken streets of The Division are filled with countless stories of love, loss, treachery, and heroism, but we’ll have to wait to find out what avenues the film will explore.
Ubisoft did not mention a release date or when shooting for the film would commence.
Speaking of the game, the Underground DLC for The Division released today for PlayStation 4 users, bringing a whole new area of Manhattan for them to explore.
